Labor Support

Our goal throughout labor and delivery is to support you and keep you and your baby safe and comfortable. Natural pain management tools will be integrated during your labor to manage contractions and intense sensations. Being in a nurturing environment, movement, heat, massage, aromatherapy, relaxation techniques, and partner education will all contribute to your unmedicated birth. All of these tools will help you have an amazing birth experience.

Epidural anesthia is also available. This is the most popular method of pain relief during labor. Women request an epidural by name more than any other method of pain relief. It is a regional anesthesia that blocks pain in a particular area of the body. The goal of an epidural is to provide analgesia, or pain relief, rather than anesthesia, which leads to total lack of feeling. Epidurals block the nerve impulses from the lower spinal segments. This results in decreased sensation in the lower half of the body. An epidural can help you relax if your labor is prolonged and can lead to a positive birthing experience by allowing you to stay alert throughout the process.

Postpartum Care

After birth, and before heading home, we encourage you to take the time you need to rest, recover, and bond with baby. Every family’s journey is unique, so the length of stay in our facility may vary based on individual needs, but we encourage 48 hours to allow time for recovery, bonding, and a successful start for baby’s feeding.

During your stay, our team will provide education on postpartum health, newborn care, breastfeeding support, and what to expect in the days and weeks ahead. You’ll receive personalized guidance on caring for your baby and recognizing signs that may require attention.

After discharge, you’ll still have access to lactation support, and our nursing staff is available by phone to answer any questions or concerns. We’re here to offer continued post-labor care and reassurance as you transition into life with your new little one.
