At Grove Creek Medical Center, we create a calm, supportive environment where you can rest, recover, and bond with your baby. As the only Baby-Friendly® designated hospital in Idaho, our postpartum care follows evidence-based practices that support both mother and baby.

We maintain set visiting hours to allow uninterrupted time for rest, recovery, and family bonding — supporting healing, feeding success, and early attachment.

A Healing Environment Designed for Bonding

A calm space matters. Quiet hours promote healing, encourage bonding, and support early feeding and attachment. Rooming-in keeps baby close so you can learn rhythms and cues with support nearby.

Breastfeeding & Infant Feeding Support

As a Baby-Friendly hospital, we provide compassionate breastfeeding support from the start. If you choose to formula feed or supplement, we provide respectful education and guidance — informed support, never pressure.

  • Skin-to-skin support immediately after birth (when possible)
  • Help with latch, positioning, cues, and feeding rhythm
  • Guidance for combo feeding or supplementing
  • Practical support for common challenges

Education Before You Go Home

Before discharge, we help you feel confident caring for yourself and your newborn. We also discuss postpartum mood changes and when to reach out for help.

Length of Stay

The length of stay varies depending on your delivery and individual needs. Your provider will guide timing for discharge so you and baby are ready to transition home.

  • Vaginal birth: Approximately 24–48 hours
  • Cesarean delivery: Approximately 48–72 hours
